Changes to I-395 HOV ramps to the Pentagon
I-395 HOV Construction Updates at the Pentagon starting Monday, July 16, 2018
The Eads Street construction work is scheduled to begin on Monday July 12, 2018, and will involve more extensive traffic pattern change for slug drivers, both in the morning and in the afternoon/evening. If the Pentagon is not your final destination please find your riders in alternative locations Rossly, Crystal City or in DC. If you are on Facebook, consider joining https://www.facebook.com/groups/PentagonSlugLines/ or other Facebook groups to coordinate rides and get real-time status of the traffic situation at the Pentagon.
- Construction activity at I-395 HOV on- and off-ramps on Eads St. at the Pentagon Reservation will lead to new traffic patterns and delays. These traffic patterns begin Monday, July 16, 2018 and continue into September 2018.
- Drivers should follow signs and traffic police direction, and review the new traffic patterns shown. Note that drivers dropping off passengers at the Pentagon in the AM rush hour and continuing to DC or Crystal City will need to detour to Army Navy Drive to reach the I-395 North HOV on-ramp.
- There is no change to current locations for AM drop-offs or PM pick-ups.
- In the event of significant congestion during the PM rush hour, drivers should be prepared to take alternate routes to I-395 South HOV lanes. The suggested alternate route via Boundary Channel Road and VA-27 is described here (insert alternate route map file here).
Below is the morning traffic pattern, please follow traffic officers direction.
Below is the afternoon traffic pattern, please follow traffic officers direction. If you can pickup slugs in DC, Rossly, or Crystal city please do so.

This was so confusing. More signage when you are trying to get through this is needed! I had to go around twice to figure out that I needed to get to Army Navy Drive to get on 395 North.
